How do I add an account in Outlook Office 365?

Since a recent update in Outlook Office 365, adding an email address can cause problems. Fortunately, this can be solved with a workaround. In this manual we explain how you can add an email address if Outlook incorrectly indicates that the data is incorrect.

  • Username: The username of your email account is the email itself.
  • Password: The password of your email account.
  • POP/IMAP/SMTP Server: The server address where your email is hosted on.
  • Server Port: The port addresses connected to your server, the default ports are: IMAP: 993 - POP3: 995 - SMTP: 465

Steps to add your email in Outlook Office 365

1. Go to Manage Profiles

Open Outlook and click in the left top on File

First, go to File at the top of Outlook. There, click About > Account Settings > Manage Profiles

2. Add new email account

A window will appear, Mail Configuration - Outlook. Click here on Email Accounts

Then you can click on New... under E-mail. This way you can add a new email address to Outlook

3. Configure your account

To add an email account, it must be set up manually.

Choose a POP or IMAP e-mail account, because we are going to set up an IMAP connection.

You now need to enter your login details. Steps 1 and 3 must be replaced with your own data.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) also requires authentication. So this must be checked. Finally, under Advanced, enable SSL/TLS for both incoming and outgoing mail. Port 993 must be set as the port for incoming mail. Outgoing mail is about 465.

Confirm this information to save your account. A test is now being performed to verify the functionality of both the IMAP and SMTP server. This should now run smoothly.
